Imperial War Museum

The latest in a run of refurbishments across the Imperial War Museum estate sees the transformation of the space around the reception in the iconic Manchester building into a relaxing cafe for visitors and public passing along the busy waterfront. The environment design took inspiration from the recent developments in London and Duxford with the client requesting an altered approach to create a warmer ambience. Working closely with Levy Restaurants this was achieved with feature timber wall cladding and the introduction of highlight blue decoration. A departure from the stainless steel counter fronts and white stone tops used at the other sites allowed us to clad the counters in tumbled stone tiles and full stave oak worktops.
